Dr. John H. Phillips
Dr. John H. Phillips, III, MD has been practicing Dermatology and Dermatologic Cosmetic Surgery since 1983. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, he attended prestigious Tulane University Undergraduate and Medical School graduating with honors in 1982. Dr. Phillips was awarded the Gold Tip Stethoscope award for the most outstanding student in Medicine while at Tulane.
After Tulane Medical School, Dr. Phillips trained an additional four intensive years as a resident in Internal Medicine and Dermatology. He completed his residency in 1986 and was appointed as a clinical Professor of Dermatology that same year. He obtained a lifetime Board Certification in Dermatology in 1986 but in an effort to be even more proficient and up to date in the field of Dermatology, he retook the board and was subsequently re-certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 2009 scoring the top 10% of the nation.
Dr. Phillips is a pioneer in the field of Dermatology and Dermatologic Cosmetic Surgery. He has been the author of numerous research papers and review articles and as such was given the honor of being elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Phillips has been the lead investigator for numerous phase three clinical drug studies by the country's largest drug companies. He was also the founder and instructor to the Tulane Cosmetic Surgery clinic and a pioneer in the procedures of Liposuction, Botox Cosmetic injections, hair transplants, dermal fillers and laser surgery to name a few. He was the first Dermatologist in the region to use a laser in Dermatology in the operating room.
During his medical residency, Dr. Phillips worked as a staff physician in numerous emergency rooms being fully certified in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He initially joined a prestigious multi-specialty group in New Orleans while working for Tulane in Meridian and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After going solo in 1992, Dr. Phillips started his practice in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and subsequently practices full time in his new state-of-the-art office in Biloxi, Mississippi.
